The NorcalMLK Foundation and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are proud to present Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Revelations. Enjoy free admission to the exhibition ‘Revelations: Art from the African American South’ and the de Young permanent collection galleries, along with programming and activities that celebrate the themes in the exhibition and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (Though not required, we encourage everyone to RSVP. )

Enjoy a concert of special gospel music. Ghanaian Master Drummer Pope Flynn opens the day’s events with traditional African rhythms.

Tour Revelations with museum docents and community representatives. At the end, join scholars as they share their connections to the artworks.

Revelations: Art from the African American South by Sharon Walton Working with little or no formal training, and often employing cast-off objects and unconventional materials, these artists have created visually compelling works that address some of the most profound and persistent issues in American society, including race, class, gender, and religion.
